Named after a river famed for hippos in Malawi/Mozambique rather than Hobbits and Mordor. Shire has done a few trips from Capetown to Nairobi, and back. Several times. That's a lot of miles. A lot of dirt roads, a lot of pot holes. Carries tents, spares, cooking gear, driver, courier, and up to 26 very happy trans-African campers. Has survived countless border crossings, breakdowns (all fixable with wire, pliers and chewing gum), police inspections, and dodged malaria, bilharzia, and numerous encounters of the hungover kind.
